Slattery is excited to see the Melbourne City Mission Front Yard Program on King Street officially open. Slattery has proudly supported the redevelopment of the facility that is home to Frontyard Youth Services, which provide a worlds first program offering 24 hours services to at-risk and homeless young people who are coupled with youth crisis accommodation.
Officially opened by Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp last week, Slattery is thrilled to see the brand-new centre for homelessness youth that Property Industry Foundation has built for Melbourne City Mission. As 43,000 young Australians are currently living on the streets or in unsafe circumstances, the project is Victoria’s largest youth homeless service provider and is aimed to support Melbourne’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged youth.
Slattery provided cost management services pro-bono on this fantastic initiative and is pleased to see the project such a success. Slattery has been delighted to work on this important project with other consultants, Fender Katsalidis, Case Meallin plus other leading property services including NDY, Wood Grieve, Irwinconsult, Urbis, Hendry Group, Equitable Access, Ashurst Lawyers and building firm, Built.
Slattery Director Crawford Fulton says, “Our Melbourne office is located in the CBD, so our people see homelessness every day and the impact it has on young lives and the community. We are thrilled to be able to contribute,” he says.
The project is dedicated in supporting the most severely disadvantaged youth in Melbourne and is designed to respond to complex needs of young people with significant trauma and those who experience challenges connecting with support services. Quantity Surveyor Lisa Creegan who worked on the project says, “I was delighted to be at the MCM opening and to see Frontyard staff members overjoyed with the new facility and how much it’s going to enable them to help the homeless youth.”
