The Slattery team is thrilled to see the official opening of the new state of the art Ian Potter Southbank Centre, which is home to the new Melbourne Conservatorium of Music building. The $109 million Conservatorium is part of The University of Melbourne’s Southbank campus, which is located in the heart of the Melbourne Arts Precinct. It is the centrepiece of the University’s major $200 million Southbank campus transformation.
Slattery was appointed as cost consultant for the project and has been delighted to work with leading consultants such as John Wardle Architects, DCWC Consulting, Irwinconsult and Aurecon.
The building includes a 400-seat cantilevered auditorium, a 180-seat ground floor studio, offering students with a range of facilities such as music workshops, orchestral rehearsal space, educational centre, library workshops and performance training. The new Conservatorium can now integrate more than 1,000 enrolled music students and over 6 thousand students from other faculties across two campuses, including utilising the new Ian Potter Southbank Centre at the Southbank campus.
