Marcellin College, Gymnasium, VIC

This project called for the existing east-west court to be extended, creating a new two-court gymnasium with retractable seating. A dramatic new 43 metre truss was installed, providing the extended gymnasium with extensive natural light and more column-free space. The truss fabricated in three pieces was installed with a pre-camber, so that when the original columns were removed, vital roof drainage was maintained. Total Construction was awarded the Master Builders Association of Victoria’s ‘Excellence in Construction’ Award 2008 for a commercial building under $5m. Slattery provided full Cost Management services through the Planning and Construction Phases of the project.
