We are involved in the Mentoring & Education Committee for the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and involved with the implementation of the Executive Leadership Series. NAWIC champions an equitable construction industry where women fully participate.
NAWIC has identified the priority need to enhance the number of women holding board positions to help create change. In Australia’s top 20 major property companies, only one company has achieved a 50/50 balance and only six other companies a ratio of between 15-30% women in key management roles, according to research conducted for Property Council of Australia’s initiative Male Champions of Changes (2016/17). NAWIC QLD are providing senior women the opportunity to attend the highly regarded five-day Australian Institute of Company Directors course, giving them the certified recognition and tools to confidently seek out directorship roles in the industry.
