Combining company sponsorship with active participation from Slattery staff, on Friday the 15th of November, the Slattery ‘A Team’ took part in the 2019 Property Industry Foundation ‘Tour de PIF’. This year’s ride started in and returned to the RACV Healesville Country Club, with more than 220 riders winding their way through the picturesque scenery of the Yarra Valley in near perfect weather conditions.
In Australia, there are over 110,000 homeless in Australia. 44,000 of those are under 25 years’ old, and 16,000 are under 12. In response to this problem, the Property Industry Foundation (PIF) plans to build 125 bedrooms in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, between 2017-2021 by bringing together companies and individuals from across the industry. Participation in the Tour Di PIF raises funds for the PIF House Program as well as for the Chatterbox Youth Outreach Bus; 50% of the funds going to each beneficiary.
The Chatterbox Street Outreach Program is an after-hours assertive outreach program that works with young people aged between 12 and 25 who are frequently homeless, at risk of homelessness and/or engaging in risk taking behaviour. By providing a variety of services including intensive and ongoing support by way of case management, brief inventions to assess the needs of young people, linking them to services and providing basic material aid in food, clothing and health supplies, Chatterbox takes a proactive approach to this prevalent problem in our community.
Slattery’s team included Executive Chairman Josh Slattery, who also purchased pro-rider Pat Lane (pictured second from left), Director Tom Dean and Senior Quantity Surveyor David Kelly. Their combined efforts saw them awarded the prestigious ‘Team of the Mountain’ award.
Strong industry support meant that the day raised over $125,000 for youth homelessness, a cause Slattery are passionate about addressing. Congratulations to Frasers Property Australia, who took the top team jersey for raising a total of over $17,000.
We would like to extend our congratulations and gratitude all who were involved in another fantastic event.
