On Friday the 3rd of June, Slattery closed out National Reconciliation Week by welcoming Yemurraki Egan to our Melbourne office, for a long-awaited presentation. Exceptional food catered by Mabu Mabu followed.
Yemma’s presentation to Melbourne staff on ‘The Importance of Indigenous Pathways’ was both inspiring and informative. Yemma shared his own story of progression from high school through to the building industry, highlighting the importance of showing young First Nations students the opportunities available to them – and the value they could bring.
The need to engage with Reconciliation Australia’s RAP program with authenticity and genuine intention was another key focus of Yemma’s presentation. Slattery is deeply committed to doing so – and has been assisted by Yemma, a member of our RAP Working Group, since the drafting of our first ‘Innovate’ RAP began in late 2019.
We thank Yemma for the invaluable insight he continues to share with us and look forward to welcoming him back soon.
